In honor of Carol Tuttle’s 60th birthday, we sat down with her to ask her some questions about what she’s discovered over the decades. Some questions are just for fun, while others are more personal!<\/p>\n
Here’s what the founder of Dressing Your Truth<\/a> wants you to know:<\/p>\n In all honesty, I just wanted to be happy and feel safe! I didn’t think about occupations or careers. The culture still strongly expected a married woman with children to be a full-time mother, so I figured that would be me.<\/p>\n I was in elementary school in the 1960’s when women’s roles in society began to change. To give my younger readers perspective on this, it wasn’t until the mid 60’s that a woman could even own her own business. Any business bank accounts had to be set up in her husband’s or father’s name! And most women were still wearing dresses anywhere they went in public.<\/p>\n What Energy Type<\/a> she is and to trust living it!<\/p>\n The Child Whisperer<\/a>! If I’d known I was Type 3, I would have seen myself in a completely different way and had a lot more confidence, as I had next to none back then.<\/p>\n About age 45! That was only 15 years ago. Since then, it has become easier and easier to make choices with fitness, diet, and overall physical care now that I’m motivated by loving my body rather than thinking I have to correct it or change it.<\/p>\n After Remembering Wholeness<\/a> was published, there was some pushback from readers. This was in the early 2000’s.<\/p>\n But a good friend of mine said to me, “Carol, you don’t do things that are openly accepted by everyone\u2014because what you do opens those who are ready for more.”<\/p>\n When I started having children, I didn’t know their Energy Types<\/a>. But I knew I wanted to raise them free of the generational patterns of dysfunction I had survived and was actively starting to heal in my life.<\/p>\n This was my biggest motivator to pursue my own healing through the years. I knew I could change the path of my posterity by doing my own healing work, and I believe I’ve done that.<\/p>\n In the early days of Dressing Your Truth<\/a>, I had a customer who lived in Hawaii, where we have a second home. She contacted us and asked if she could hire me to come her home, go through her closet, and give her some hair advice. I figured, “Why not!” I don’t remember what I charged, though she might. She knows who she is and is an active member of the Dressing Your Truth<\/a> community. We hit it off and both had a lot of fun that day!<\/p>\n I don’t see myself as a “celebrity” or anyone special, especially at work. I relate to everyone in the same way, from the warehouse staff to my CEO. Tim, my Creative Director, says there is definitely a dynamic energy in the office when Carol is in town! I can get bored with routine, so I need to make work interesting, from Trader Joe tastings, to impromptu Facebook Live broadcasts with Anna K, to having a fun snack drawer for my grandkids if they come by.<\/p>\n Something they believe they cannot do but that they’re drawn to doing. For me this was running marathons (I ended up doing 16 of them), and the other was sky-diving. I was really, really scared, but I don’t like fear being a decision-maker in my life, so I made myself do it.<\/p>\n Bringing this information into the world! It would’ve been easier being a high-level realtor\u2014everyone knows what that is. But I made a long-term commitment to share Energy Profiling and Dressing Your Truth<\/a> with the world, and now it’s catching on and paying off!<\/p>\n Even though I’ve had risks that didn’t go as expected, they all paid off! But I’ve made some hasty decisions\u2014like the time I bought season tickets to the ballet and realized during the first performance that I’m not a fan of two hour ballets. Even though we had season tickets, I never went to another show and ended up giving all the tickets away!<\/p>\n “I am so confused, I see myself in all of the Types, I have been doing this for 40 years, and I still can’t decide! Can you help me?” (The dilemma of a Type 1 woman!)<\/p>\n I know who I am and I live it effortlessly. I’ve learned how to take care of myself, so aging is going well for me. I feel good, look good, and am doing good in a world that really needs my gifts! If I live to be 90, which is possible (my dad is 91), I still have 1\/3 of my life left to live from a place of authenticity, affluence, ease, and joy.
