The 6 Body Parts That Reveal Your Age First

What will make you look older than you really are?

As a woman, it’s so easy to get caught up in comparison. Our society’s current reference to beauty is flawless skin and big, full lips.

One day it dawned on me that when women try to fit that mold and make themselves look like the perfect model of beauty, we lose touch with what makes us unique and special.

Personally, I don’t want to look like everyone else. I want to look like the best version of myself.

Our bodies are all different, and they change as we age.

Aging happens every day—it’s impossible to look young forever. And I don’t believe we should be trying to look like we’re still 20. I believe in taking care of your body and skin out of love for yourself, not because you’re afraid of aging.

About 15 years ago, I noticed that certain areas of my face and body had aged very quickly—because I hadn’t taken care of them for so long.

I’m sharing this not so that you feel pressured to look younger, but so that you will feel empowered to care for your beautiful body!

Apply a clean sunscreen to these areas daily, and learn to care for the six body parts most vulnerable to skin damage. Here’s what you can do to keep them healthy and radiant as you age, plus the skincare product specifically targeting each area. You can get my favorite sunscreen here.

6 Body Parts That Will Age the Fastest

1. Nasolabial Fold Lines (Your Smile Lines)

Smile lines, or nasolabial folds, appear on either side of your mouth and deepen with time. Every time we smile or talk, we use this area, which breaks down skin elasticity and leads to volume loss.

How to care for smile lines:  Since the loss of volume due to reduced collagen production makes our smile lines more pronounced, adding a collagen supplement to your daily diet is highly recommended. Practicing gentle facial massages and using a jade roller is also helpful, as it increases circulation and supports collagen production. Recommended product: Collagen Peptides Powder

2. Forehead

The forehead is constantly exposed to sunlight, which makes it a prime area for sun damage and pigmentation. The skin here is also quite thin, which can become dry, leading to more noticeable lines and wrinkles over time.

How to protect your forehead: I recommend using a vitamin C serum in the AM to even out skin pigmentation and a retinol cream in the PM to increase skin cell turnover, reducing wrinkles. Recommended products: Skin Brightening Serum and Wrinkle Recovery Serum

3. Under-Eye Area

The delicate skin under your eyes is very thin, leading to puffiness, dark circles, and fine lines as you age. Lack of sleep, poor circulation, and dehydration are common culprits here.

How to care for your under-eyes: A gentle eye serum with ingredients like hyaluronic acid and antioxidants can help reduce puffiness and brighten dark circles. Cold compresses and jade rollers can also help improve circulation and reduce puffiness. Recommended product: Eye Corrector Serum

4. Neck

Your neck is an area that’s often overlooked in skincare routines but is highly prone to sun damage and fine lines. If you spend time driving, you might notice more signs of aging on the left side due to sun exposure.

How to care for your neck: Make it a habit to extend your skincare routine down your neck—applying a neck cream with retinol will help boost skin cell health and slow aging. I’ve also found that sleeping on my back helps reduce wrinkles on both the face and neck. Recommended product: Neck Restoring Cream

5. Décolleté (Chest)

The décolleté, or chest, is often exposed to the sun but easily forgotten in skincare routines. This area has thin, delicate skin, making it prone to sun damage, discoloration, and wrinkles.

How to care for your décolleté:  Along with your neck, this skin area also needs attention. For an extra boost, look for skincare products with ingredients like retinol or bakuchiol oil to help with skin cell turnover. Recommended product: Anti-Aging Body Lotion

6. Backs of Your Hands

Just like the face and neck, the backs of your hands show signs of aging early on due to sun exposure and thinning skin. Circulation issues can also lead to age spots, wrinkles, and dryness in this area.

How to care for your hands:  Boosting skin cell health in this delicate area is essential. Retinols are the most popular ingredient to activate skin cells, but they can make you sensitive to sun damage. A better alternative is to use a lotion with bakuchiol oil, which acts like a retinol without the sun damage . I also will cover my hands with gloves when I’m gardening or bike riding and wear an SPF long-sleeve top that extends down over my hands when I’m outdoors for extended periods. Recommended product: Anti-Aging Body Lotion

Want to learn more about slowing down the aging process in these 6 areas?

When I started to really take care of my skin about 15 years ago, I was amazed at how well my body responded. I’ve created an aging journey for myself that’s positive and effective.

My anti-aging journey looks different than most you’ll see out there. Instead of only focusing on skincare products and depending soley on that to make a difference, I’ve also done a lot of inner work. Don’t get me wrong, the right skincare products can do a lot to help repair your skin’s damage and to prevent further aging (I’m excited to share more about that later!). But the beliefs we carry about aging, along with the negative emotions from our pasts, age us very quickly.

On March 15th, I’m leading my Healing Center members through a guided experience of the new Healing Plan for Anti-Aging. This is a new offering that you won’t find anywhere else online. It’s powerful, uncovering blocks and programs you’ve been carrying about getting older. As you let them go, you reverse the aging process easily and gracefully.
